I’m so excited to report today that the Baltimore Sun ran an article on my new position as Arts Integration Specialist for Anne Arundel County Public Schools!

The article features great information about what Arts Integration is and how it can be the link that schools are looking for when talking about creativity and innovation in our schools.  Anne Arundel County Public Schools are spearheading this belief by creating this new, 12-month position in which I can be a resource to all schools and teachers in our system who are looking to incorporate Arts Integration strategies within the classroom.

I have to say that Joe Burris did a great job of capturing the importance of this position.  I have been truly blessed to be able to be a part of this extraordinary vision, as set forth by Dr. Kevin Maxwell, Superintendent of Schools for Anne Arundel County.  It is through his belief, and that of the school board, that the Arts can enable our students to have an access point for learning and innovation that this position is supported.  I know of no other school system in the nation that is this large that has an Arts Integration Specialist position.  In these economic times, it speaks volumes to the commitment to student innovation and teacher professional growth that AACPS has funded this role.

I’m so excited to be a part of this movement, and to continue to learn and grow through each of you reading this website.  It is through our community of learners that we can truly educate our students and ourselves!
